Attestations are the building blocks of decentralized trust
They’re actually quite simple.

An attestation is a digital record of information about anything signed by someone. Attestations are crucial because they offer a means of establishing trust and credibility online. In the absence of face-to-face interaction or physical presence, it can be challenging to determine the accuracy or reliability of information.

Attestations provide third-party validation and a cryptographically signed confirmation of the authenticity of a piece of information, making it easier for others to trust and depend on that information.

The opportunities are endless.

Anytime you need to prove or verify something, attestations will play a critical role. Some use-cases include verifying a user's identity for social media accounts, providing proof of education or employment, and enabling access to healthcare services. It can also be used to verify the provenance of physical goods, such as art or luxury items, and to enable secure and verifiable voting in elections.

Attestations can represent an identity.

The online world has been struggling with digital identity and reputation problems for a long time. We asked ourselves, "What is identity?" and we realized it's something that starts when your mother names you. Then, throughout our lives, other people and organizations attest to different aspects of our lives. Your friends attest that they like you, your boss attests to your employment, your school attests to your grades, the government attests to your driver's license, and the list goes on. All of these attestations add up over time to represent who you are.

We created EAS to make it easier for people to collect and aggregate their attestations, so they can build a more trustworthy online presence. And, it's not just about identity! Attestations can be used for so much more. Think journalism, voting, supply chains, compliance, and more!
